It's a Dog's World at Harrah's Rincon April 17th Contest to Find San Diego's Hottest Dog at Fundraising Event Benefiting the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA Valley Center, CA -Does your dog have what it takes to be crowned the Hottest Dog in San Diego County? Then enter your best friend in the first Harrah's Rincon Hottest Dog Contest, taking place at Harrah's Rincon Casino & Resort in Valley Center on Sunday, April 17th. A total of 100 four-legged tailwaggers will be able to compete for the title of Hottest Dog in three categories: Costume, Personality and Walk during the event, which benefits the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA.
The contest is being sponsored by Harrah's Rincon and Pink's Hot Dogs, the iconic eatery that recently opened their only San Diego County outlet at the casino resort in November 2010. "We were looking for an event that we could hold under the Pink's/Harrah's banner," explained Marty Goldman, Vice President of Marketing and Operations for Harrah's Rincon. "We realized that holding the 'Hottest Dog' contest was a natural for Harrah's and Pink's. It's a great way to continue our new charitable partnership with the San Diego Humane Society." "This is a terrific way to support the great work being done by the San Diego Humane Society," said Richard Pink, co-owner of Pink's Hot Dogs. "We recently toured their campus and were very impressed by the facility and the workers there. I truly believe it's the best animal shelter in California, if not the country."
"Pink's is truly a hot dog institution in the Los Angeles area, and we are both thrilled and honored to be a part of their introduction to San Diego residents through this unique event which benefits the Humane Society," said Dr. Mark Goldstein, President of the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA. "We are also proud to support Harrah's Rincon through this event, and we look forward to working with both Harrah's and Pink's in the future." The event will be emceed by motivational speaker Vic Salazar, former NBC 739 anchor and owner of Vic Salazar Communications. Doggie contestants and their owners will get to strut their stuff parading down the runway before a distinguished panel of judges including Beverly Pink Wolfe and Dr. Mark Goldstein, President of the San Diego Humane Society. Dogs will be judged on costume, personality and walk. There are a possible 10 points per category and the points will be added up to achieve the rankings. The 1st Place Winner will be named the Hottest Dog and will receive a trophy and a $100 Petco Gift Card, while the owner will receive a certificate for a midweek overnight stay at Harrah's Rincon and coupons for a meal for four (meal consists of hot dog/hamburger, side order and beverage) at Pink's Hot Dogs at Harrah's Rincon.
