The Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland’s 14th Annual Paws in the Park Dog Walk: Join in the fun and help homeless animals! The Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland’s (ARLGP) annual fundraiser, Paws in the Park, is scheduled for Sunday, September 4, 2011 in Portland’s Payson Park located on Baxter Boulevard. Registration begins at 10:00 am and the dog walk at 11:00 am; this event is held rain or shine. The proceeds will help provide food, shelter, emergency, and preventative veterinary care, as well as provide new beginnings for the more than 4,000 animals who come through the shelter’s doors each year. Paws in the Park is one of The Animal Refuge League’s most highly publicized fundraisers. This year the ARLGP is adding a Furry Friends Road Race (that will take place prior to Paws in the Park at 9am - separate registration) in celebration of their 100th anniversary of caring for homeless animals and they are depending on walkers, runners and teams to make this the most successful year yet! Pre-register for PIP now and gather donations. By pre-registering you will also be entered in an exclusive raffle to win great prizes! Get your family, friends, neighbors, classmates, and co-workers to join us for a fun romp around Payson Park with demonstrations, pet items for sale, raffles, rescue groups, a Cool Canine Contest and a chance to meet local celebrities, WMTW Channel Eight’s Shannon Moss, WGAN Radio’s Ken Altshuler and Mike Violette, Miss Maine and Miss Teen Maine USA. Prizes will be awarded to the team, child and adult with the highest dollar value in pledges. Walk for our cause and have fun; a dog is not required to participate. For more information on Paws in the Park, to make a donation or to register visit The Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland online at www.arlgp.org , email lmcghee@arlgp.org or call 207-854-9771 Ext: 102.
